Para essa caracteriza\u00e7\u00e3o, ser\u00e3o realizados estudos sobre os aspectos anat\u00f4micos, qu\u00edmicos, f\u00edsicos e mec\u00e2nicos, al\u00e9m da avalia\u00e7\u00e3o do comportamento desses materiais em rela\u00e7\u00e3o a secagem convencional, trabalhabilidade, usinagem, durabilidade natural e propor\u00e7\u00e3o cerne\/alburno. Com a execu\u00e7\u00e3o deste estudo, ao final do experimento, espera-se qualificar esses materiais do ponto de vista tecnol\u00f3gico, com possibilidade de indica\u00e7\u00e3o de poss\u00edveis utiliza\u00e7\u00f5es da madeira mais jovem da esp\u00e9cie. A secagem da madeira \u00e9 uma etapa importante para a sua utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o em diversas finalidades, quando bem conduzida, garante um produto final de alta qualidade. Por\u00e9m, a secagem se caracteriza como um processo delicado para algumas esp\u00e9cies. Defeitos oriundos das tens\u00f5es de secagem podem ocorrer, reduzindo a qualidade e o valor desta madeira. O colapso \u00e9 um dos principais defeitos e ele ocorre predominantemente no inicio deste processo.
