Com capacidade de detectar part\u00edculas impercept\u00edveis para os seres humanos, os c\u00e3es, que t\u00eam 10 vezes mais receptores olfativos, auxiliam no processo de buscas e, como afirmam alguns bombeiros, valem mais que 20 militares. Treinados para identificar odores espec\u00edficos, eles t\u00eam sido \u00fateis, em Brumadinho, tamb\u00e9m, para confirmar se um segmento de corpo pertence a um ser humano ou a um animal, tamb\u00e9m atingidos pela lama.<\/p>\n

O olfato canino detecta cheiros humanos emitidos de diversas formas, como as cerca de 40 mil c\u00e9lulas que se desprendem por minuto da pele de pessoas vivas, a transpira\u00e7\u00e3o e gases respirat\u00f3rios ou a decomposi\u00e7\u00e3o dos mortos.<\/p>\n

Para conduzir um c\u00e3o de busca e salvamento, militares tamb\u00e9m passam por um treinamento b\u00e1sico de adestramento. Aprendem os comandos mais comuns, alguns dados em ingl\u00eas \u2013 \u201csit\u201d, deita, fica \u2013 e outros mais espec\u00edficos. Os bombeiros respons\u00e1veis pelos c\u00e3es, pegam-nos\u00a0ainda filhote e come\u00e7am a trein\u00e1-los. Em seguida, desenvolvem com o c\u00e3o treinamento para uma atividade espec\u00edfica a ser exigida dele \u2013 identificar drogas, explosivos, pessoas.<\/p>\n

Os c\u00e3es que trabalham em Brumadinho s\u00e3o treinados para achar pessoas vivas e mortas. Durante o treinamento, eles s\u00e3o apresentados a cada tipo de odor e estimulados a identific\u00e1-los. O treino deve ser o mais parecido poss\u00edvel com as situa\u00e7\u00f5es reais, por isso, s\u00e3o usados qu\u00edmicos com cheiros similares ao do corpo humano. Em alguns estados, quando \u00e9 permitido, fazem o uso da pr\u00f3pria carne humana.<\/p>\n

O c\u00e3o, que est\u00e1 auxiliando nas buscas, junto com o sargento Leonardo, j\u00e1 resgatou diversas v\u00edtimas e recebeu uma homenagem num post do Instagram. \u201cEu sou o sargento Leonardo, esse aqui \u00e9 o Thor. O Thor tem cinco anos e t\u00e1 trabalhando muito, j\u00e1 encontrou um monte de v\u00edtimas por a\u00ed debaixo dessa lama.\u00a0Agora ele vai descansar, tomar um suplemento vitam\u00ednico que os m\u00e9dicos veterin\u00e1rios v\u00e3o passar pra ele e amanh\u00e3 volta a trabalhar. Eu j\u00e1 perdi a conta de quantas pessoas ele achou j\u00e1. Infelizmente, poucas vivas.\u00a0Esse c\u00e3o aqui j\u00e1 foi para v\u00e1rias miss\u00f5es comigo.
