O interesse pela disciplina vem desde cedo, quando em sua adolesc\u00eancia via os filmes hollywoodianos com a tem\u00e1tica de guerras. Durante sua gradua\u00e7\u00e3o em hist\u00f3ria pela UFRJ (1992), encontrou o desafio de escolher o campo em que desejava se especializar, j\u00e1 que as elei\u00e7\u00f5es de 89 tinham acabado de acontecer. O fato de Fernando Collor de Mello ter ganhado as primeiras elei\u00e7\u00f5es diretas no Brasil o deixou intrigado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cComo um candidato que eu imaginava que seria um lugar comum, tendo conex\u00f5es com a ditadura, pode ter sido eleito, na primeira elei\u00e7\u00e3o direta para presidente no Brasil\u201d, questiona.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A ideia do povo brasileiro votar a favor de uma oligarquia despertou o primeiro impulso em Lu\u00eds Edmundo para estudar o fen\u00f4meno da propaganda, e a partir da\u00ed pensar e de alguma maneira \u201cjustificar\u201d o voto dos brasileiros em Collor. Com o crescimento do parti-nazista, o vago interesse na juventude pelo nazismo se tornou uma quest\u00e3o a se pensar no presente, j\u00e1 que o passado voltava a se repetir e &#8220;vendido&#8221; para os eleitores como algo bom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Em 2002, fez seu doutorado em hist\u00f3ria pelo Centro de Pesquisas Sobre o Antisemitismo da Universidade T\u00e9cnica em Berlim, a partir de ent\u00e3o prosseguiu sua carreira estudando a hist\u00f3ria alem\u00e3 contempor\u00e2nea. O professor realizou pesquisas como a ideia de na\u00e7\u00e3o, os partidos e a rela\u00e7\u00e3o do campo pol\u00edtico com o mundo moderno. Por j\u00e1 ter visitado pa\u00edses como Alemanha, \u00c1ustria e Israel, ele conta que as realidades s\u00e3o totalmente diferentes se comparadas com a do Brasil, uma vez que eles j\u00e1 passaram por guerra e n\u00f3s n\u00e3o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Al\u00e9m disso, Lu\u00eds Edmundo afirma que o conhecimento do nazismo em territ\u00f3rio brasileiro cresceu mais nos \u00faltimos anos, a express\u00e3o circula comumente em Israel e \u00e9 um tema p\u00fablico na Alemanha. Na \u00c1ustria, ele conta que nazismo \u00e9 uma palavra que remete \u00e0 mem\u00f3ria e mobiliza pessoas. Em suma, ressalta ser a mem\u00f3ria um instrumento c\u00edvico poderoso, ajudando a nos defender como sociedade dos erros e a formar um senso cr\u00edtico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Para Lu\u00eds, os erros do passado n\u00e3o voltar\u00e3o a se repetir, mas n\u00e3o impede que novos erros, e at\u00e9 mesmo semelhantes, possam vir a acontecer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cExistem sociedades que t\u00eam a preocupa\u00e7\u00e3o de trazer suas feridas e coloc\u00e1-las ao longo do dia como instrumento para ensinar as pessoas. Acho que n\u00e3o tratar do &#8220;at\u00e9 que lugar algumas ideias podem nos levar&#8221; nos deixa&nbsp; desarmados,&nbsp; tirando nossa capacidade de rea\u00e7\u00e3o diante de valores da mesma
