Apesar de possu\u00edrem uma s\u00e9rie de semelhan\u00e7as, eles se odeiam  desde a derrota da Alemanha na primeira guerra mundial em 1916 e a ascens\u00e3o do  imperialismo belga ao poder. O maior marco da briga entre as duas etnias foi o  genoc\u00eddio ocorrido em 1994 onde tutsis, grupo de oposi\u00e7\u00e3o na \u00e9poca, foram  perseguidos e mortos pelo grupo da posi\u00e7\u00e3o, os hutus.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;font-size: small\"><br \/><\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;font-size: small\">Uma das pessoas que documentaram os efeitos dessa guerra civil foi o escritor  senegal\u00eas Boubacar Boris Diop que no dia 9 de agosto proferiu uma palestra com o  tema \u201cO jornalista e o escritor diante dos fatos hist\u00f3ricos\u201d na Universidade  Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ) contando sobre o seu trabalho em  Ruanda.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;font-size: small\"><br \/><\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;font-size: small\">Segundo o escritor, ele e um grupo de nove autores foram para aquele pa\u00eds  africano em 1998 atrav\u00e9s do projeto \u201cRuanda, por escrito para que n\u00e3o  esque\u00e7amos\u201d. Cada integrante deveria publicar um livro sobre o genoc\u00eddio  ocorrido no pa\u00eds, mas ignorado pela imprensa internacional.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;font-size: small\"><br \/><\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;font-size: small\">Para a Boubacar Diop, houve dois motivos para que a imprensa fechasse os  olhos para a trag\u00e9dia ruandesa: \u201cPrimeiro porque Ruanda fica na \u00c1frica e a morte  de mais de 10 mil pessoas neste continente para a imprensa internacional seria  normal. Segundo, porque na \u00e9poca estava acontecendo a copa do mundo de futebol  nos Estados Unidos. Para os meios de comunica\u00e7\u00e3o este evento era mais importante  de ser noticiado do que um genoc\u00eddio na \u00c1frica\u201d, explica o escritor.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;font-size: small\"><br \/><\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;font-size: small\">Diop contou que partiu para Ruanda com o objetivo de ser um escritor, mas l\u00e1  se comportou com um jornalista e passou a atuar nas duas fun\u00e7\u00f5es. Isso para ele  n\u00e3o foi problema, pois considera que essas fun\u00e7\u00f5es s\u00e3o semelhantes e andam  juntas. Segundo Diop, em Ruanda ele se tornou um jornalista porque teve que  aprender a ouvir as pessoas, teve que entrevistar os cidad\u00e3os para relatar os  preju\u00edzos do genoc\u00eddio e teve que aprender a n\u00e3o se envolver emocionalmente com  as mazelas que afetavam as pessoas daquela localidade. Ele contou que foi  dif\u00edcil n\u00e3o se envolver com tudo o que estava ouvindo e vendo, mas ele precisava  tomar uma certa dist\u00e2ncia para n\u00e3o comprometer o trabalho.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;font-size: small\"><br \/><\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;font-size: small\">Mesmo com tanta determina\u00e7\u00e3o, ele admitiu que, ap\u00f3s a experi\u00eancia em Ruanda,  mudou os temas que abordava nos seus textos e a forma de escrever. O escritor  passou a ser um dos grandes defensores da popula\u00e7\u00e3o africana e da causa negra.  Hoje ap\u00f3s escrever seis romances, tr\u00eas pecas de teatro e dezenas de novelas e  ensaios, ele \u00e9 colunista do jornal franc\u00eas Le Monde Diplomatique, sempre  abordando as quest\u00f5es raciais e demais assuntos pol\u00edticos.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;font-size: small\"><br \/><\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;font-size: small\">A palestra no ICHS (Instituto de Ci\u00eancias Humanas e Sociais) da UFRRJ foi uma  parceria entre os cursos de p\u00f3s-gradua\u00e7\u00e3o em Hist\u00f3ria e os curso de gradua\u00e7\u00e3o e  Comunica\u00e7\u00e3o social, Ci\u00eancias Sociais e Rela\u00e7\u00f5es Internacionais.
